Walking

If you plan to do some walking as part of your holiday then Glentower House and Lavender Cottage are ideally placed. You can choose from easy strolls to more strenuous hikes to suit your ability.

Woodland Trust Scotland manages a significant area around Glendevon and has developed a mosaic of woodland and open glades with unobstructed hilltop views.

Follow the ‘Reservoirs Trail’ – a path linking the woodland with the reservoirs in Glendevon – Castlehill, Glenquey, Glensherup and Lower Glendevon. There is also the old drover’s road from Glendevon to Dollar and ‘Cadgers Way’ – a traverse through the Ochil Hills from Glendevon to Auchterarder.

There are also some stunning walks around the Gleneagles Estate as well as a variety of magnificent walks offering stunning views in the Crieff Area.

Within a short drive of the house you can access a variety of walks to suit all tastes and abilities.

Lochside Walk – a scenic Lochside walk along the north and west shores of Loch Katrine in the Trossachs. You can take a boat from one side of the Loch to the other and walk back to make it a more varied day out.

Moorland Walk – a section of the West Highland Way that gives an easy route across the wilds of Rannoch Moor.

Coastal Walk – sense the freedom and enjoy the adventure of the Fife Coastal Path. Watch seals basking in the sun and look out for dolphins as they play off the coast. The path can be enjoyed in bite size chunks or as a long distance route and includes a mixture of woodland walks, sandy beaches and breathtaking cliffs, providing a variety experiences. There really is something for everyone, whether it is families or keen ramblers.
