The River Devon flows gently along the valley from source, past Glentower House towards the Castlehill Reservoir and then on to Yetts O’ Muckhart. As Glentower House has fishing rights you can literally fish for brown trout from the garden.
There are also five reservoirs close by – the largest being Castehill, Frandy and Glensherup.
The season is March 1st till the 31st October. The reservoir is stocked on a weekly basis throughout the season with high quality Rainbows, Browns and Blues, all of which are triploids and complement the indigenous Brown trout population. With a maximum depth of over 100ft, shallowing off in many heather clad bays to between 2 and 8ft the fishing is often very visual with an abundance of terrestrial insects.
Facilities include ample car parking by the lochside; a fishing lodge with a range of tackle and flies for sale. There are 12 boats available for hire. Fly fishing tuition is also available by very experienced tutors.
